Dr Jonathan Choi assumed Chairmanship of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce

Wenweipo – On the evening of 30th November, the 51st term Board Inaugural Ceremony of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) took place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR, Mrs Carrie Lam; Director of the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Hong Kong, Mr Wang Zhimin; Commissioner of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Xie Feng; and other honorary guests attended the Ceremony.

Speaking at the Inaugural Ceremony, Dr Jonathan Choi, who is re-elected as Chairman of CGCC for the fourth time, shared that, “CGCC will continuously promote cooperation in the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area for the future sustainable development of this area. At the same time, CGCC will also actively cooperate with the Central Government in the national reform and opening up as well as develop new economic models”.

Dr Choi emphasized on the Central Government’s determination to transform Hong Kong into an international science and technology centre. The Hong Kong Government is also adopting a series of related-policies to promote Hong Kong’s development in this direction. He pledged to coordinate with CGCC members in strengthening cooperation with Guangdong province as well as promoting the exchanges of information, human resource and investment between the two sides in order to develop the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area into a new economic zone of the region.
