Dr Jonathan Choi being re-elected as Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce

 ifeng – On 19th October 2018, the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) conducted the election of key positions in the Board of Management in which Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of Sunwah Group, will continue to be Chairman of CGCC for the 51st term of office.

Dr Jonathan Choi joined CGCC in 1997. He has been serving CGCC in the capacity of Committee Member, Standing Committee Member, Vice Chairman and then Chairman for the 46th and 47th term of office, from 2008 to 2012. After that, he served CGCC continually as Permanent Honorary Chairman. In October 2016, Dr Choi was re-elected as Chairman of CGCC for the 50th term of office.

Dr Jonathan Choi will be the Chairman of CGCC for the 51st term of office from November 2018 to October 2020. In the next two years, he will coordinate with the new Board of Management in making greater contribution to promote the Chamber’s affairs and the development of Hong Kong.

Dr Choi is active in community and international affairs which is evident in the wide range of public positions he holds, including Standing Committee Member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Chairman of the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macau Bay Area Entrepreneur Union, Chairman of the Hong Kong – Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and many others.

Furthermore, thanks to his great contribution to the socio-economic development of Hong Kong and other countries, Dr Choi has received many noble awards, including the Gold Bauhinia Star conferred by the Hong Kong Government in 2014, the Friendship Order conferred by the Vietnamese Government in 2015, the French Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters conferred by the French Government in 2017 and many other awards.

 The Inaugural Ceremony will take place on 30th November 2018 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Ceremony will have the participation of high-level officials from the Central Government, Hong Kong Government as well as many international partners.
