Dr Jonathan Choi continues to represent Hong Kong at APEC Business Advisory Council

Sunwah – On 19th December 2018, the Hong Kong SAR Government announced that the Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam,  re-appointed Dr Jonathan Choi and Dr Allan Zeman as Representatives, and appointed Dr Aron Harilela as Alternate Representative, for Hong Kong in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Business Advisory Council (ABAC) until the end of 2020.

Dr Jonathan Choi is the Chairman of Sunwah Group, Dr Allan Zeman is the Chairman of Lan Kwai Fong Group and Dr Harilela is the Chairman and CEO of the Harilela Group.

In 2015, Dr Jonathan Choi was appointed Representative of Hong Kong in ABAC for the first time. Since then, he has successfully fulfilled his role in ABAC and enhanced Hong Kong’s international image.

Mr Edward Yau, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, shared that, “I would like to express my appreciation to Dr Choi, Dr Zeman and Dr Harilela for agreeing to represent Hong Kong in ABAC. I believe their wealth of business experience will inject further impetus into the work of ABAC.”

ABAC was established in 1996 by APEC senior leaders as a permanent business advisory body to provide advices on business  priorities in the region. Hong Kong has appointed 3 Standing Representatives and 2 Alternate Representatives to ABAC. Currently, standing representatives include Dr Jonathan Choi, Dr Allan Zeman and Ms Marjorie Yang, Chairman of Esquel Group. The two alternate representatives are Dr Aron Harilela and Mr Nicholas Ho, Deputy Managing Director of Ho & Partners Architects Engineers & Development Consultants Limited.
