MOU Signing Ceremony between Sunwah Group and University of Social Sciences and Humanities

Sunwah – In the morning of 7 August 2020, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), under Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM), and Sunwah Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the establishment of the USSH – Jonathan KS Choi Cultural Centre at USSH Campus in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). This is the first cooperation between Sunwah and USSH which will open for the long-term partnership in terms of innovation, cultural and international exchanges.

The Signing Ceremony was held successfully at USSH downtown campus. Mr Jesse Choi, Director of Sunwah Vietnam, presented Sunwah Group and Sunwah Foundation. From VNUHCM and USSH, there were Assoc. Prof., Dr Vu Hai Quan, Vice Chancellor of VNUHCM, and Assoc. Prof., Dr Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, President of USSH; together with the presence of the leader representatives from each side.

The establishment of this Cultural Centre follows the special request from Vietnam Prime Minister to our Chairman, Dr Jonathan Choi, after witnessing the success of the ULIS – Jonathan KS Choi Cultural Centre in Hanoi which is open since 2015. The USSH – Jonathan KS Choi Cultural Centre will be linked to the ULIS – Jonathan KS Choi Cultural Centre in Hanoi and other Jonathan KS Choi Cultural Centres over the world as well as work with Sunwah Innovation Center in Ho Chi Minh City to enhance entrepreneurship and cultural enrichment among Vietnamese young generation and with the world.

At the Ceremony, Assoc. Prof., Dr Ngo Thi Phuong Lan emphasized the establishment of USSH – Jonathan KS Choi Cultural Centre marks a significant milestone on the path of cooperation between the two parties and creates firm foundation for future activities. She also shared that this project has received great support from VNUHCM which has allowed both sides to cooperate just after a very short time.

Assoc. Prof. Dr Vu Hai Quan recalled the partnership between Sunwah Vietnam and VNUHCM and the journey to realize the initiative of establishing the Cultural Centre in HCMC. He highly appreciated Dr Choi’s business philosophy and commitment to Vietnam’s social and educational development in addition to the Groups’ business activities.

Mr Jesse Choi, on behalf of Sunwah Group, has sent Dr Choi’s regards to the university leaders and invited them to our 50th Anniversary in Vietnam later this year. With 50 years doing business in Vietnam and three generations of the family, Sunwah will act as a bridge to connect Vietnam with other parts of the world, as well as make concerted efforts to the socio-economic development of the country.
