Dr Jonathan Choi of Sunwah Group donated additional VND 5 billion to the Government of Vietnam to support its fight against COVID-19

Sunwah – A ceremony was held on 28 April 2020 at the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Hanoi Office to mark the donation of VND 5 billion to the Government of Vietnam by Dr Jonathan Choi of Sunwah Group to support Vietnam’s fight against COVID-19.
Mr Jesse Choi, Director of Sunwah Vietnam and the second son of Dr Jonathan Choi, represented Sunwah Group at the donation ceremony. Mr Tran Thanh Man, Secretary of the Party Central Committee of Vietnam and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front received the donation on behalf of the Government of Vietnam. Also present at the ceremony was Mr Dang Minh Khoi, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.

On 31 March 2020, Sunwah Group started to donate 40,000 medical masks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Education and Training and Vietnam National University in Hanoi. On 9 April 2020, the Group donated anti-epidemic supplies including 20,000 medical masks, 2,000 bottles of hand sanitizer, 100 sets UV germicidal lights and technology products to the Ho Chi Minh City government and Sunwah’s university partners in the City.
Dr Jonathan Choi said: “This year is the 50th Anniversary of Sunwah Group’s operation in Vietnam. We are planning a series of celebratory activities starting from September this year. With the outbreak of COVID-19 extending to Vietnam, I decided to give our support to Vietnam as soon as possible to combat the pandemic.”
“Based on the long-term relationship between Hong Kong and Vietnam and Sunwah Group’s long-term presence in Vietnam, I would like to express our commitment and dedication to Vietnam through the donations,” he added. Three generations of the Choi family have been doing business in Vietnam, starting with Dr Choi’s father and now his sons.
