The Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Entrepreneurs Union honored 79 young entrepreneurs in the region

China.com.cn – On 15 September 2021, the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Entrepreneurs Union organized the “Award Ceremony for Outstanding Young Entrepreneurs in the GBA the 2nd edition”. After 2 months of many selection rounds with over 700 nominations, the 79 most outstanding young entrepreneurs of GBA were chosen for six awards, including Outstanding Young Entrepreneurs, Best Entrepreneurship Project, Best Technological Innovation Project, Best Commercial Service Provider, Best Entrepreneur with Social Responsibility, and Best Cultural Creativity Project. The Ceremony was held simultaneously in Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao.

Delivering a speech at the Ceremony in Hong Kong, Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR, shared that the development of the GBA is a key strategy in the national opening and reform which will facilitate unlimited opportunities to young people, from experts to entrepreneurs, who can always build a career there. She also expressed her appreciation for the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Entrepreneurs Union for its work in promoting entrepreneurship in Hong Kong young people, contributing to the startup ecosystem in the City.

As the Chairman of the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Entrepreneurs Union, the organizer of the Award Ceremony, Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of Sunwah Group, shared that he hoped the Union will establish the Outstanding Young Entrepreneurs Union to better connect all the resources, encourage the young entrepreneurs seize opportunities during this difficult times of pandemic and uncertain global economy; and at the same time strengthen the partnership among the 3 parties, promote the economic prosperity of the GBA and contribute to the revival of China’s economy.

The Award Ceremony is hosted by local authorities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao; as well as the Liaison Office of China’s Communist Party, several Chamber of Commerce and leading universities in Hong Kong and Macao. Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR; Mr Tan Tienju, Deputy Director of Liaison Office of China’s Communist Party; Dr Jonathan Choi, Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Chairman of the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Entrepreneurs Union; and leaders of several Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong hosted the Award Ceremony. Mr Zhang Xin, Deputy Governor of Guangdong province; Mr Li Weinong, Director of Economy and Finance of Macao; Mr Ai Xuefeng, Member of the Municipal Committee and Vice Mayor of Shenzhen City, also attend the Ceremony in Tianhai, Guangdong and Macao respectively.

There was an increase in the members of the Selection Board, including Mr Liu Bingzhang, Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of the CPPCC and Chairman of Hong Kong Professional Services Federation; Mr Chen Xinzi, Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of the CPPCC, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Former President of Hong Kong Baptist University; Mr Lu Bo, Delegate to the National People’s Congress and Chairman of the Macau Daily; Mr Gan Huanteng, Chairman of Hong Kong Press Union; Mr Zhang Xialing, CEO and Vice Chairman of the China Business Association in Hong Kong; Mr Hu Zhanghong, CEO of GBA Real Estate Investment Limited and Director of Hong Kong Financial Development Department; Mr Ling Junjie, Chairman of Hong Kong Elite Association; Mr Xu Guowei, Founding Chairman of Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area Trade and Industry Federation; Mr Liao Rongjiu, General Counselor of Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area Youth Career Development Association; Mr Ma Hongming, Chairman of the Qianhai Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce, Shenzhen and Chairman of the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area Youth Alliance; and Mr Zhang Jianhua, Chief of Staff of the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area Entrepreneurs Association. In addition, Mr Luo Xuan, Vice President of City University of Hong Kong; Mr Hu Jun, former President of Jinan University; Mr Yan Zhihong, Chairman of the Innovation Center of the University of Macau; and Mr Liu Min, Project Manager of EMBA (Innovation in Financial Sciences) of Chinese University of Hong Kong also attended as a specialized judge.

The award-winning entrepreneurs include Mr. Li Haoran, Strategic Director of Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macau Bay Area, China Resources Group Co., Ltd; Mr Luo Zijun, Executive Chairman of Fosun International Hong Kong – Macau Co., Ltd; Mr Tang Jiaqi, CEO of Hong Kong General Cancer Center; Mr Cai Jiamin, Vice Chairman of Rising-Sun International Group Co., Ltd; Mr. Shi Junrong, CEO of Centaline Group; Mr Guo Haoquan, Founder and CEO of QiFeng Capital; Mr He Meizhi, Creative Director of Charmaine Art Consultancy Co., Ltd…. along with many representatives of unicorn startups and young entrepreneurs with active contributions in the fields of Technology Innovation, Cultural Creation, and Social Welfare. Many second-generation leaders of well-known enterprises in the Bay Area were also honored in this Awards Ceremony for their outstanding personal achievements.
