Sunwah – On August 9, 2024, the “Yunnan – Hai Phong Business Forum” was organized at the Southwest E-Commerce Center of Sunwah Group (Hong Kong) in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China. This event was co-organized by Hai Phong City (Vietnam) and Sunwah Group (Hong Kong), with support from the Lancang – Mekong Cooperation Center under the Yunnan Provincial Department of Commerce, the Foreign-Invested Enterprises Association, and the Chamber of International Commerce of Yunnan Province, China. Mr. Jason Choi, Vice Chairman of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Entrepreneur Alliance (GBA) and Regional Director of Sunwah Group in the GBA, and Mr. Le Anh Quan, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People’s Committee, co-chaired the Forum. The Forum was also attended by Mr. Liu Minyuan, CEO of Sunwah Group’s Southwest region; Ms. Janice Le, Chief Representative of Sunwah Group in Hanoi; and Ms. Katie Nguyen, Chief Representative of Sunwah Group in Ho Chi Minh City. The event attracted the participation of various enterprises in Yunnan Province.

Hai Phong, Vietnam’s third-largest city, is one of the cities directly under Central Governement, and possess a strategic coastal location which serves as a crucial gateway to the North and also is one of the country’s major industrial hubs. With its advantages in international trade, logistics, and manufacturing, Hai Phong has consistently been an ideal investment destination for foreign enterprises, including those from China. The Forum held in Kunming aimed to strengthen the collaboration and exchange between Yunnan Province and Hai Phong City, foster friendship, and explore opportunities for development, towards mutual benefits and shared prosperity.

Speaking at the Forum, Mr. Jason Choi provided an overview of Sunwah Group’s operations in Vietnam, as well as in the GBA and Southwest China. He expressed his hope that through the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Entrepreneur Alliance and Sunwah Group’s extensive network, this Forum would further promote cooperation between Yunnan Province and Hai Phong City in areas such as logistics, international trade, infrastructure development, and agriculture, while also exploring new opportunities for collaboration.

Mr. Le Anh Quan, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People’s Committee, representing the Hai Phong delegation, highly appreciated the capabilities, network, and social contributions of Sunwah Group. He noted that Yunnan province is the final and most important destination in the Hai Phong delegation’s visit to China. He hoped that through this Forum, businesses in Yunnan will gain a deeper understanding of the investment potential and opportunities in Hai Phong, thereby fostering bilateral cooperation across various sectors. He also expressed that Yunnan enterprises will actively engage and invest in Hai Phong in the coming time.

During the discussion, representatives from Yunnan Province enterprises, including Kunming Osdy International Trade Service Company, Yunnan Energy Logistics Co., Ltd., Yunnan Mobei Cross-Border E-Commerce Co., Ltd., Yunnan Tongdian Aviation Travel Service Co., Ltd., and the Kunming Branch of China Railway No. 5 Engineering Group, discussed with the Hai Phong delegation on cooperation in international trade, logistics, bonded warehouse establishment, aviation, convenient transportation, and infrastructure development. Mr. Le Anh Quan addressed their queries and emphasized that both sides would continue to discuss and deepen cooperation through the support and connections facilitated by Sunwah Group.
