Chinese language advanced training for officials of Vietnam’s Divisions of Foreign Affairs in Guangzhou, China

Baoquocte.vn – From 16th to 27th September 2018, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DOFA), under the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), in collaboration with Sunwah Group and the Chinese Language and Culture Institute, of the National University of Jinan (Guangzhou, China) co-organized the “Advanced Chinese training course for officials of Foreign Affairs Division in six provinces of Vietnam.

The training course is part of the MOU between the MOFA and the Sunwah Group on providing training for the officials working in the provincial offices of the Foreign Affairs Division in Hanoi, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Da Nang, Tien Giang and An Giang. They are also the ones that achieved excellent results in the previous Chinese training courses co-organised by DOFA and Sunwah Group in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City during the period of 2015 – 2017.

In the afternoon of 26th September, the Closing and Certificate Awarding Ceremony took place with the participation of Mr Nguyen Hoang Long, Director of Foreign Affairs Department, MOFA; Ms Betty Chan, Director of International Relations of Sunwah Group; Professor Shao Yi, Dean of Chinese Language and Culture Institute; representatives of Consulate General of Vietnam in Guangzhou, Head of Foreign Affairs Department of Guangdong Province, Foreign Affairs Division of Guangzhou City and a large number of teachers, representatives of Vietnamese and international students studying at the Institute.

Speaking at the Closing Ceremony, Mr Nguyen said that in the context of Vietnam deepening the international integration, the Government and local authorities highly value the training and advancement of officials’ capacity, especially officials working in foreign affairs at provincial levels.

Mr Nguyen highly appreciated the cooperation of Sunwah Group and Jinan University in organizing this successful and meaningful training course and affirmed that the course not only enhanced the level of Chinese competence but also provided a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and economic development. The officials returning to Vietnam will then be the bridge that helps promote cooperation between Vietnam and China in general and Guangdong province in particular.

Prof. Shao Yi expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Sunwah Group for selecting the Institute to train the talented officials of the Foreign Affairs Divisions. He confirmed that the Institute hoped to organize classes for Vietnamese officials in the near future.

Ms Betty Chan, Sunwah Group’s Director of International Relations, shared that Sunwah has been doing business in Vietnam for nearly 50 years and is actively promoting the corporate social responsibility. In the coming time, the group will continue to collaborate with the Foreign Affairs Department of MOFA to organize training courses in Guangdong and Hong Kong on various fields.
