Below is Dr Choi speech:
Ladies and gentlemen,
We are very honoured with the presence of the Consuls General of many countries at our Sunwah 60th Anniversary Dinner this evening. We treasure your friendship and support.
In the past 60 years, Sunwah has developed from a small seafood company into an international conglomerate covering seafood and foodstuff, real estate, financial services, technology, media, infrastructure as well as education and training in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Macau, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Singapore, Japan, Canada, USA and Australia. Sunwah Kingsway, our financial arm, has been established for 26 years and has been named “King of small-cap IPOs“ by the South China Morning Post in 2014.
With our solid foundation, we have been able to withstand market uncertainties and continue to grow due to our prudent business strategy and ability to develop new business. In fact, Sunwah has participated in and made our contribution to the “opening up, bringing in and going out policy” of mainland China. We will continue to make full use of our competitive advantages to expand our business in various countries around the world under the Asian regional development and the Belt and Road Initiatives.
The past 60 years also marked the efforts of three generations, from my father’s generation of foundation-laying to my generation of development and to my son’s generation of innovation. Our mission is to establish a corporation with over 100 years of success.
In the meantime, we will continue the work of our Sunwah Foundation established more than 30 years ago to initiate and support public services projects in education, technology, arts and culture. One of our most recent international projects is the launching of a Global Young Leaders Network, using the Sunwah Foundation facilities and cultural centres in Mainland China, Vietnam, Japan, Canada and United Kingdom as the base to form an international platform for young leaders from various countries to enhance their leadership skills as well as for international exchanges. This, in the long run, will promote better understanding and pave the way to a harmonious world.
Lastly, I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous Year of the Rooster.
