Sunwah Group joins as a founding shareholder of the Ho Chi Minh City Venture Capital Fund

Sunwah – On the afternoon of 17 April 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) People’s Committee, in coordination with the HCMC Department of Science and Technology, held the Launching Ceremony for the HCMC Venture Capital Fund, marking the official introduction of a dedicated financial instrument to support and accompany startups and technology enterprises from the incubation stage through growth.
The event was attended by HCMC leaders, including Mr. Tran Luu Quang – Secretary of the City Party Committee; Mr. Duong Anh Duc – Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong – Vice Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee; Mr. Lam Dinh Thang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology; Mr. Pham Dut Diem, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs; and Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade. Also present, representing the education sector – an important pillar of the startup and innovation ecosystem – was Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, President of Vietnam National University HCMC.

With an initial charter capital of VND 500 billion, including VND 200 billion from the City budget and VND 300 billion mobilized from the private sector, the Fund is expected to become an important financial platform to promote innovation, support promising technology projects, and create further momentum for the startup ecosystem. The Fund brings together the participation of the HCMC People’s Committee and major corporations such as Sovico, Vingroup, Becamex IDC, VinaCapital, Sunwah Innovations, VNG, FPT Corporation, CT Group, and Hoa Sen Group. This reflects the joint commitment of both the public and private sectors in promoting economic transformation, advancing science and technology, and fostering innovation in Vietnam.
