Consul Generals visit Choi Centre in Ho Chi Minh City to explore collaboration opportunities

Sunwah – On 3 August 2024, three separate visits by Consul Generals of the United Kingdom, Vietnam and Cambodia to the Choi Centre in Ho Chi Minh City highlighted the growing international interest in Vietnam and the role of Sunwah Group in fostering global collaboration.
In the morning, Ms Alexandra Elizebeth Smith, the Consul General of the United Kingdom in Ho Chi Minh City, visited the Choi Centre and met with Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of Sunwah Group. During the meeting, Mr Jesse Choi, Sunwah Regional Director in ASEAN, shared the group’s 55-year business experience in Vietnam and establishing innovation centers in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to support Vietnam’s startup ecosystem.

Dr. Choi emphasized Sunwah Group’s strong ties with the UK, noting that as the Chairman of VinaCapital, Vietnam’s largest foreign fund management company, he has facilitated the listing of three funds on the London Stock Exchange. He also highlighted the Choi Centre’s role in promoting cultural and educational exchanges, including collaborations with leading British universities.

The Consul General expressed her appreciation for Sunwah Group’s contributions and noted the growing trade relations between Ho Chi Minh City and the UK, with plans for a tech delegation to visit the city in March 2025.
On the same morning, Dr. Choi hosted a lunch and meeting with Ms Le Duc Hanh, the Consul General of Vietnam in Hong Kong and Macao, and her spouse. The visit included a tour of the Choi Centre and discussions on the long-standing relationship between Sunwah Group and Vietnam.

Dr Choi extended an invitation to the Consul General to attend Sunwah Group’s 55th Anniversary celebrations in Vietnam next year. He also highlighted Sunwah Group’s role as a key connector in fostering economic cooperation, cultural exchange, and innovation between Hong Kong and Vietnam.

The Consul General expressed her appreciation for Sunwah Group’s efforts in strengthening the partnership between Vietnam and Hong Kong and encouraged the group to continue expanding its economic collaborations.
In the afternoon, Mr Chan Sorykan, the Consul General of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City, visited the Choi Centre, Sunwah Innovation Center and met with Dr. Choi and Mr Jesse Choi. The discussions focused on Sunwah Group’s extensive experience in Vietnam and its 30-year history in Cambodia, including investments in real estate and the establishment of innovation and cultural centers.

Dr. Choi discussed Sunwah Group’s increasing investments in Cambodia and recent meetings with Cambodian leaders, including new Prime Minister Hun Manet. He also highlighted the potential for trilateral cooperation between Cambodia, Vietnam, and China, particularly in the green economy and renewable energy sectors.

The Cambodian Consul General expressed his admiration for Sunwah Group’s contributions in both Vietnam and Cambodia and pledged his support for the group’s future initiatives in Cambodia.
