Sunwah – On 17 October 2022, Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of Sunwah Group, was conferred Honorary Doctorate degree by the National University of Management in Cambodia. The Ceremony was attended by Cambodian Prime Minister H.E. Hun Sen. Mr Hang Chuon Naron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, presented the Honorary Doctorate of the “International Business Management” to Dr Jonathan Choi.

In the evening of same day, the Congratulating Party was held at Sunwah Cambodia Headquarters with the attendance of Distinguished guests such as Mr Long Ponna Sarivath, Secretary of State from Ministry of Culture & Fine Arts; Dr Sann Vathana, the Under Secretary of State from Ministry of Education; Dr Hor Peng, Rector of the National University of Management; and many representatives from various chambers of commerce and corporates.

In the opening remarks, Dr Hor Peng, Rector of the National University of Management (NUM), congratulated Dr Jonathan Choi and said, “Dr Choi’s dedication and contributions to Cambodia in education, innovation and culture, and specifically, to NUM, would support not only the country’s socio-economy but also the young generation.” Dr Hor Peng also expressed his gratitude to Dr Choi and Sunwah Foundation for providing 4 master’s degree scholarships annually and sponsoring the establishment of the Jonathan KS Choi Cultural Centre and Sunwah Innovation Center as well as facility upgrades in NUM campus.

At the congratulation party, Dr Jonathan Choi shared in his speech, “Sunwah Group has been doing business in Cambodia for nearly 30 years. Over the years, we have shown our strong commitment to the development of Cambodia through our business investment and public service projects. Starting from seafood business in 1995, we have expanded to real estate in 2002 with the Sunwah Victory project. Sunwah Pearl Phnom Penh, our latest world class residential and commercial project, has just been launched with a ground-breaking ceremony in July this year.”

During the party, Dr Jonathan Choi, Founding Chairman of the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Entrepreneurs Union, appointed Mr Jesse Choi to be the Executive Vice-Chairman of the Union.
