ASEAN Top News  – With the coronavirus epidemic spreading to Germany, Dr Jonathan Choi, Standing Committee Member of Chinese People’s Consultative Committee and Chairman of Sunwah Group, donated 20,000 FFP2 masks, bought from Guangdong 9N Medical Instrument Co., Ltd. in China, to the Düsseldorf Regional Government, Germany. The masks arrived at Düsseldorf City on 16 April. Ms Birgitta Radermacher, District President of Düsseldorf Regional Government, received the donation and expressed her sincere gratitude for Dr Choi’s generous donation. The masks will be allocated to the police and government teams in North Rhine-Westphalia region for their protection while carrying out the pandemic prevention duties.

Dr Jonathan Choi extended his warm regards to the Düsseldorf Regional Government through his representative and stated that the coronavirus pandemic is a severe challenge for all people’s life and health. All countries should stand together and support each other to fight against it. When the COVID-19 pandemic first broke out in China, Germany Government provided medical supplies to China and sent experts to Wuhan City to help conduct research on the virus. “I hope to show our support to people in Düsseldorf Region and help them fight against COVID-19 through this donation,” Dr Choi added.

This donation was supported and assisted by the Consulate General of China in Düsseldorf and the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Germany.

Dr Jonathan Choi is the Chairman of the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area Entrepreneurs Union and Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce. He holds leading positions in many international organizations and makes significant contributions to international economic cooperation and cultural exchanges. 

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in many countries, Dr Jonathan Choi has donated a large number of anti-epidemic products to France, South Korea, Canada, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia and other countries and regions. The total donations amounted to over 5 million RMB.
