On 26^th June 2019, the 1^st World King of Chef Summit and the 9^th World Culinary Convention successfully closed in Awaji Island of Hyougo Prefecture, Japan. Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of the Hong Kong conglomerate Sunwah Group, attended the closing ceremony. At the Ceremony, Mr Toshizou Ido, Hyougo Prefecture Governor also came to present the Certificates of Gratitude to excellent attendants of the two events.

Dr Jonathan Choi, as the Chairman of Sunwah Group, Standing Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Chairman of Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area Entrepreneur Union, Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, has been highly acclaimed by leaders of various countries. China President Xi Jinping has received Dr Jonathan Choi several times in official events.

Dr Jonathan Choi always pays great attention to contribute to the China – Japan cooperation. He is the Chairman of the Hong Kong – Japan Economic Cooperation Committee. The Committee has received Certificate of Merit by Japan Minister of Foreign Affairs in November 2014. In July 2014, Dr Jonathan Choi himself received the same certificate for his contribution to the cooperation between two countries. In July 2018, the Jonathan KS Choi Culture Centre was opened at Kyushu University as another effort of Dr Jonathan Choi and Sunwah Group to promote educational and cultural exchanges between China and Japan.

This time, on receiving the Certificate of Gratitude by Hyougo Prefecture Governor, Dr Jonathan Choi expressed that Hyougo Prefecture and Guangdong Province had been friends for more than 30 years. Governor Toshizou Ido was also a good old friend of Guangdong. Last year, Guangdong Province and Hyougo Prefecture co-organized the 17^th Japan – Guangdong Economy Promotion Forum. Dr Jonathan Choi also joined this Forum.

In April 2019, as the Chairman of Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area Entrepreneur Union, Dr Jonathan Choi organized the Symposium to introduce Great Bay Area in Tokyo. This Symposium was a big success with the presence of 700 Japanese business representatives and 500 others from Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao. This event created not only deeper exchanges but also countless cooperating opportunities between two sides.

In his speech, Dr Jonathan Choi expressed his sincere gratitude to the Hyougo Prefecture for the honor. He wished the G20 Summit a fruitful outcome as well as congratulated the success of the 1^st World King of Chef Summit and the 9^th World Culinary Convention.
