Financial Secretary of Hong Kong, Mr Paul Chan led a delegation from Hong Kong to visit Sunwah Group in Vietnam

Sunwah – Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the large-scale event “In Style • Hong Kong 2018” opened in Ho Chi Minh City from 20 – 21 September 2018 and attracted the participation of many high-level officials from the Hong Kong Government, notably Mr Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of Hong Kong.
During his attendance for “In Style • Hong Kong 2018”, on the evening of 20th September, the Financial Secretary of Hong Kong, Mr Paul Chan, paid a visit to Sunwah Group to gain deeper understanding of the Group’s business activities in Vietnam.
Founded in 1957, Sunwah Group is a Hong Kong-based highly diversified conglomerate and has been operating in Vietnam for nearly 50 years. In Vietnam, the Group started the business with seafood processing. At that time, Sunwah was one of the biggest seafood exporters in Vietnam during the early years, and later became one of the first foreign companies to set up a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City. Since then, Sunwah Group has continued to expand its investment in real estate, financial services and coffee and achieved many remarkable results. Sunwah is also one of the leading real estate developers in Ho Chi Minh City with well-known projects including Sun Wah Tower, Saigon Pearl and the Group’s latest luxury project – Sunwah Pearl, which is currently under construction.
During his stay, the Secretary and officials of Hong Kong Finance Ministry visited Sunwah Pearl and later Sun Wah Tower – one of the landmarks in Ho Chi Minh City. At Sun Wah Tower, Mr Chan had a meeting with Mr Johnson Choi, General Director of Sunwah Vietnam, to discuss about achievements and future plans of the Group in Vietnam as well as its contributions to the promotion of cultural – educational exchanges between Vietnam and other nations.

Mr Paul Chan highly appreciated Sunwah’s contribution on promoting cooperation between Hong Kong businesses and local businesses and government as well as expressed his hope that Sunwah will continue to act as a bridge to strengthen the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Hong Kong.
