Forum on Social Welfare and Healthcare in East Asia

China.com.cn – Under the guidance and support of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province, the Forum on Social Welfare and Healthcare in East Asia is organized by Sunwah Group in cooperation with the Huazhi Global Governance Research Institute of Nanjing University, the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area Entrepreneurs Union and the Health Policy and Management Research Center of Nanjing University. The Forum was held on 30th December 2019 at the International Conference Center in Nanjing University, China.

At the Forum, Dr Jonathan Choi, Standing Member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of Sunwah Group, pointed out that East Asian countries and regions are facing the challenges of an aging society and the people’s desire to improve social well-being and healthy living standards. Therefore, enhance cooperation among East Asian countries and regions is an effective mean to solve these challenges.

As the Chairman of the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area Entrepreneurs Union, Dr Jonathan Choi shared that in April this year, the Entrepreneurs Union made plans and promoted cooperation between two famous bay areas which are the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area and the Tokyo Bay Area, in the field of Healthcare.

He shared that in recent years, Sunwah Group has been committed to promoting the construction of a “healthy China”. In many big cities, Sunwah Group has done many projects in the fields of food, technology, pension, medical tourism, education and other health-related areas. Dr Choi also pointed out that Jiangsu, an important economy in the Yangtze River Delta, has the opportunity and potential to become a pioneer in the construction of a “healthy China.”

According to Dr Jonathan Choi, this year, Sunwah Group coordinated with Nanjing Vocational College to establish the Sunwah International Healthcare Academy in Lishui district, Nanjing. In the coming time, Sunwah will leverage the Group’s extensive resources and experience from Japanese and South Korean markets to contribute to the Chinese healthcare industry.

The Forum on Social Welfare and Healthcare in East Asia had the participants of many senior experts and industry insiders from East Asian countries to discuss the applications of technology and business models of Hong Kong and Macao regions, China, Japan and South Korea to confront the challenge of the aging society and promote the development of healthcare service industry. Earlier, leaders of China, Japan and South Korea had met and announced the “Joint Declaration on Active and Healthy Ageing Cooperation”.  Industry experts believe that the success of this Forum is a milestone for Sunwah Group in the promotion of cooperation among China, Japan and South Korean to develop the Healthcare service industry.
