Sunwah – Within the framework of the State visit of General Secretary, President of China Xi Jinping and his wife, to Vietnam, spouse of the General Secretary and President of China Prof. Peng Liyuan and spouse of Vietnamese President Phan Thi Thanh Tam visited the ULIS-Jonathan KS Choi Cultural Centre and interacted with Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) students on December 13, 2023.

Joining the event were Ms. Lam Thi Phuong Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the Party Central Committee Office; Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee for External Relations; Ms. Ngo Thi Minh, Deputy Minister of Education and Training. From VNU, there were Prof. Dr. Le Quan, Director and Associate Professor Dr. Pham Bao Son, Deputy Director, along with leaders of the Office, functional departments, leaders of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Language and International Studies.

At the exchange with the two Ladies, VNU students eagerly shared and expressed their interest and love for Chinese language, culture, cinema, costumes, and the friendship between the two countries of Vietnam and China through cultural exchange, academic cooperation and mutual visits, etc. Spouse of General Secretary, President of China Prof. Peng Liyuan expressed her impression of the Chinese speaking ability of the students. Not only assessing Vietnamese students as very smart and hard-working, Professor. Peng also believed that language is a bridge, playing an important role in exchange and connection between people and cultures. If Vietnamese students know Chinese, they can learn more about China. Likewise, if Chinese students know Vietnamese, they will also understand more about Vietnamese culture. She also hopes that the two sides will have many opportunities to exchange and cooperate so that the younger generation can develop their abilities and roles.

The visit of Professor. Peng Liyuan has an important meaning, creating a driving force to promote educational and training cooperation between the two countries, while also creating opportunities for students to exchange, interact and increase their understanding of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China.
