Wenweipo –  On 20^th August 2017, at Ningxia province, China, Communist Party Secretary of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Mr Shi Taifeng had a meeting with Deputy Director of the Committee for Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports of the National Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of the People Republic of China, Chairman of Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and Chairman of Sunwah Group, Dr Jonathan Choi. In the meeting, Secretary Shi Taifeng expressed his deep interest and great support to the social projects that Sunwah Group had been coordinating with Ningxia community to contribute to the region’s hunger elimination and poverty eradication.

Secretary Shi Taifeng shared that, the launching of “One Belt, One Road” Initiative together with other relevant policies of the Central Government has provided Ningxia with many favourable conditions and valuable opportunities for development as well as trade cooperation with the Central Asia region and with countries located along the “Silk Road”.

Dr Jonathan Choi emphasized Ningxia is an important area in the “One Belt, One Road” Initiative and is also a critical bridge in the economic relations between China and Arabian countries. Ningxia has all favourable conditions for development. Especially, Hong Kong is currently the largest source of foreign investment in Ningxia.

Dr Jonathan Choi also shared, in early September, a delegation from Hong Kong Industry and Trade Department will visit Ningxia, and more than 6,000 investors from China and other countries will attend the China – Arab States Expo in order to promote exchanges and cooperation in culture and economy between Hong Kong and Ningxia as well as Arabian countries.

Additionally, on 24^th August 2017, the Strategic Cooperative Agreement Signing Ceremony between Sunwah Group and Department of Commerce of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region was organized. In April 2017, Sunwah Group signed an investment contract, pioneering in developing a wine-specialized place in Yinchuan City, Ningxia province. The establishment of vineyards and wineries under a new model will create a new face for the wine production and culture in Ningxia province, China. This project has total area of up to 20,230 ha, which will be used to build a typical wine city consisting of organic Selenium vineyards, wineries, as well as develop a wine culture center and resorts. This project is consistently planned by Sunwah Group, with the estimated total investment of up to 6 billion RMB. Currently, more than 4,000 ha of this area has successfully cultivated grapes.
