Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of Sunwah Group

VGP News – In the afternoon of 30th March 2018, on the sideline of the 6th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS 6) Summit, Prime Minister of Vietnam H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of Sunwah Group and Chairman of Hong Kong – Vietnam Chamber of Commerce.

At the meeting, Dr Jonathan Choi shared that his family has 3 generations of doing business in Vietnam for nearly 50 years, from his father to him and now his son. Dr Jonathan Choi also reported to the Prime Minister on Sunwah’s current business activities in Vietnam as well as the Group’s plans to expand its investment in the near future.
Dr Jonathan Choi said that the cooperation between Sunwah Group and Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City in building a Cultural Centre in Ho Chi Minh City has achieved great progress. The Cultural Centre will become a platform to not only promote cultural – educational exchanges but also nurture and support Vietnamese start-up companies.
Dr Choi also expressed his wish to invest in the steel manufacturing industry in Vietnam by introducing environmentally friendly and advanced technologies, as well as to promote cooperation in other fields including education, solar energy and tourism.
Having close relationships with many Japanese enterprises, Dr Jonathan Choi shared his plan to bring more Japanese enterprises to Vietnam by establishing an investment fund with the initial capital of 200 million USD.
He confirmed that later this year, Sunwah Group will coordinate with the Vietnam Embassy in Beijing to organize a tourism festival in the Northeast region of China, aiming to boost tourism cooperation between the two countries.
Considering Vietnam as his second home, Dr Choi promised to put more efforts into bringing more foreign investors to Vietnam.
Prime Minister H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly valued Dr Jonathan Choi’s goodwill and support for the country and welcomed the Chairman of Sunwah Group to attend the GMS 6 Summit. He also showed his appreciation for the Group’s business operations and its plans to further expand investment in Vietnam.
The Prime Minister expressed his hope that Sunwah Group will continue to expand investment in the fields that suit its strengths and apply advanced technologies and techniques in the implementation of projects. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will continue creating favourable conditions for Sunwah’s business and investment activities in the country.
