Sunwah – From 3 – 6 December , under the support and arrangement of Mr Nguyen Trung Hieu, Consul General of Vietnam in Kunming, China, the Sunwah delegation led by Mr Jesse Choi, Director of Sunwah Vietnam and Director of Sunwah Southeast Asia, conducted a business trip to two Northwestern border provinces of Vietnam – Lai Chau and Lao Cai.
In the afternoon of December 3, Mr Tran Tien Dung, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lai Chau Province welcomed the Sunwah delegation at the headquarters of the Provincial People’s Committee. During the meeting, Mr Jesse Choi, Director of Sunwah Vietnam shared on the Group’s activities in Vietnam over the years, as well as the Group’s interest in agricultural development in Lai Chau. Chairman Tran Tien Dung expressed his appreciation and recognition of the contributions of Sunwah Group in promoting economic development, cultural exchange, and education between Vietnam and China, and hoped that once Covid-19 is brought under control, Sunwah Group will organize business delegations from Hong Kong and China to Lai Chau province to visit, exchange and connect with local businesses, seek investment opportunities, with the aim to promote economic development, especially in the key agricultural sector of Lai Chau. During the trip, the Sunwah delegation also visited the tea factory of Tam Duong Tea Company, one of the major tea production enterprises with more than 50 years of experience in Lai Chau province.
In the morning of December 4, at the invitation of the People’s Committee of Lai Chau province, the Sunwah delegation attended the Conference on Promotion of investment in agriculture of Lai Chau province 2021 under the theme: “Economic recovery, flexible and safe adaptation to the Covid-19 pandemic”, which took place at the Provincial Convention Center. This is the largest activity in 2021 in the agricultural sector of the province, jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, to introduce the potentials and strengths in the agricultural sector and call for investment to develop the province’s agricultural economy, with the goal of economic recovery, flexibly adapting during the Covid-19 pandemic. Attending the conference, there was Mr Le Minh Hoan, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, together with ministries and provincial leaders, local and international investors.

On December 5, Mr Jesse Choi had a visit and conducted a field trip to the border gate economic zone of Lao Cai province and the ancient tea area of Bat Xat district. Mr Jesse said that Sunwah Group has a great interest in investing, as well as connecting investment in Lao Cai, especially in Kim Thanh border gate economic zone and ancient tea area in Bat Xat. He shared that Lao Cai owns a great advantage in terms of geographical location, this is an important transit station in the Kunming – Hanoi – Hai Phong economic corridor, mainly in the field of import, export agricultural products, and trading between Southwest China and Southeast Asian countries. He also pledged that, after the Covid-19 epidemic is under control, Sunwah Group will further promote its role as a bridge, bringing Hong Kong and Chinese businesses to Lao Cai for visit, exchange, and exploration of investment.

In the morning of December 6, at the headquarters of Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee, Mr Jesse Choi had a courtesy meeting with Lao Cai Provincial Secretary of the Party Committee Mr Dang Xuan Phong. Mr Dang expressed his warmest welcome to the Sunwah delegation, and highly praised the reputation, resources, and experience of the Sunwah Group. He also wished Sunwah Group to conduct long-term investment and cooperation projects in Lao Cai province, and especially conveyed his thanks to Dr Jonathan Choi and Sunwah Group for donating medical equipment and supplies with a total value of more than 200,000 USD in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic in Lao Cai province, through the Vietnam Consulate General in Kunming, in August of this year. Mr Jesse Choi also reported to the Provincial Secretary of the Party Committee Mr Dang Xuan Phong on the previous day’s field trip to Lao Cai border gate economic zone and ancient tea area in Bat Xat district, expressed his high hope and belief in the development potential of Lao Cai province in the fields of agriculture, tourism, and border-gate cooperation economic zones. In the coming time, Sunwah Group hopes to be able to invest, cooperate and support Lao Cai province in these fields, and at the same time, connect Hong Kong and Chinese companies to visit and exchange with local businesses, seeking investment and business development opportunities in Lao Cai.

Also, on the morning of December 6, the Sunwah delegation had met with leaders of various local government departments, chaired by the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee Mr Trinh Xuan Truong. At the meeting, Chairman Trinh Xuan Truong expressed his gratitude for Sunwah Group’s companionship and support for Lao Cai province in the recent time of Covid-19 prevention and control, also shared about the potential and advantages of the province, especially in the fields related to the industry of agriculture and border economy. He also specifically suggested Sunwah Group further discover and promote investment cooperation in Lao Cai, especially in the fields of industry, tourism, trade, services, and agricultural technology application. Lao Cai province is committed to creating the best favorable conditions for Hong Kong and Chinese organizations and businesses to invest and do business in Lao Cai. On the same day afternoon, the Sunwah delegation had a meeting with the Lao Cai Provincial Business Association. Mr Nguyen Huy Long, Chairman of the Association and member enterprises welcomed the delegation and shared the economic strengths of Lao Cai province as well as the desire for exchange and cooperation of the local enterprises with the Group, as well as its partners in Hong Kong and China.

On December 7, Mr. Jesse Choi visited and worked with the leader of the Lao Cai Campus of Thai Nguyen University, a center for nurturing high-quality human resources for Lao Cai province and neighboring provinces in the Northwest region. Mr Hoang Van Hung, Director of the Campus, together with representatives of the university’s leader board welcomed the delegation and briefly introduced the university’s training majors, its domestic and international cooperation as well as the desire to receive support from Sunwah Group in connecting with foreign partners and implementing cooperation projects in the fields of Chinese language training, high-tech agriculture, and tourism.
