Since July 2021, a severe and complicated COVID-19 situation is recorded in Vietnam, with thousands of new cases being reported everyday. Yunnan Province (China), which is adjacent to Vietnam’s border, has been paying a lot of attention to pandemic prevention, particularly in border regions. Recognizing the urgency of the situation and his wish to support Vietnam in the fight against COVID-19, Dr Jonathan Choi, Chairman of Sunwah Group, instructed the Group’s China Southwest branch to coordinate with the Group’s partner – Innotek Beijing Group – to donate a large quantity of anti-epidemic materials, valued at USD 200,000, including 15,000 nasopharyngeal swab kits, 15,000 oropharyngeal swab kits, 400,000 medical masks, and 1,200 protective suits. These anti-epidemic materials will be used for COVID-19 prevention and control along the borders of the Northern provinces of Vietnam right after customs procedures are completed.

The Group’s active support during this difficult time brings both practical and great spiritual value, as well as being a source of motivation for the Northwest provinces of Vietnam in the fight against the epidemic to bring people’s lives back to the new normal. The Consul General believed that the donation would help strengthen the relationship between Sunwah Group and the Northwest provinces of Vietnam and facilitate more economic-trading cooperation opportunities for both sides. Mr Wang Jin shared that Dr Jonathan Choi always gives great attention to Vietnam, where the Group has many important projects and business activities for more than 50 years. This donation of anti-epidemic materials also shows Sunwah Group’s commitment to further contribute to the friendship and partnership between Yunnan Province (China) and Vietnam, including the Northwest provinces. At the end of the meeting, both parties discussed several projects including China – Vietnam cross-border e-commerce, industrial and medical cooperation in the Northern region of Vietnam, and cross-border self-driving tourism. These projects are currently the focus of investment of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Kunming and the Northern provinces.
