Dr Jonathan Choi being re-elected the 5th time as Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce

Sunwah – On 26 October 2022, the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) conducted the election of key positions in the Board of Management in which Dr Jonathan Choi, Standing Committee Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Chairman of the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Entrepreneurs Union, Chairman of Sunwah Group, will continue to be Chairman of CGCC for the 53th term of office.

Dr Jonathan Choi became Chairman of CGCC in October 2008. After that, he served CGCC continually as Permanent Honorary Chairman. From 2016 to 2020, Dr Choi was re-elected as Chairman of CGCC for the 50th and 51st term of office. Dr Choi shared that he is very honored to be re-elected as Chairman thanks to the trust and support of the Board of Directors. In the next two years of his term, he is committed to further promoting economic and trade development, actively promoting the cohesion of members and the business community to contribute to the development of Hong Kong. He will also support the management of the Hong Kong SAR government, further strengthen the “super connector” function, and help the industry and trade community better integrate into the country’s “Dual Cycle Strategy” and seize new opportunities.

Dr Jonathan Choi joined CGCC in 1997. He has been serving CGCC in the capacity of Standing Committee Member, Vice Chairman and then Chairman for the 46th, 47th, 50th and 51st term of office. He has been confered the honorary award Grand Bauhinia by the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2021. Dr Choi is active in community and international affairs which is evident in the wide range of public positions he holds and has been promoting the partnership between Hong Kong, China with ASEAN and other nations.  

The Inaugural Ceremony will take place on 1 December 2022 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
